The Pagan Godspell Official Caveat Dance
This is a blog. It’s comprised of my opinions and reflections, and those opinions/reflections are based on my experiences. These are mere thoughts put down in words in a fairly ephemeral form of media. Now, I am not saying that words and thoughts do not have weight or influence – they do, powerfully and really. And the expression of opinions always has an agenda: to sway others to one’s position. Fact. So this is obviously my agenda too, or I wouldn’t bother voicing my opinions in this space. However, you have thoughts and opinions, based on your experiences, and they may or may not clash with mine (interwebs translation: YMMV). Also fact. Please feel free to express these in the comment area. But when you do, please know two things:
1. I am always and ever just working out my own thoughts on things, so while I strive to stick to my guns when I feel it’s warranted, I also always and forever maintain the right to change my mind at will (and have done so many times in the course of this blog alone). This is not holy writ I’m writing here, this is me “doing theology”, and as such, it will always be inherently messy, flawed, and subject to sudden, 180 degree turns. So be warned: I brake for theological shift.
2. Pagan religions are, as we all can probably and actually agree, hugely diverse, between themselves as well as within themselves. I do not speak for “Paganism.” I do not speak for any pagan religion or organization, and I do not speak for ADF (the pagan organization of which I am a current member). I speak for me, and on occasion I *may* speak for the non-ADF tradition/religion I practice (that has no name but has been affectionately called, by me, Rootwater Gospel Paganism), and in my well-meaning hubris I might occasionally sail close to attempting to speak for the Mama, or for honeybees, or Mother Lake, but that’s a different thing…one of those weird poetic-human flaws.
Also, please know that I have a comment policy. This is it:
All constructive debate and commentary, even very heated, is welcome. Emotionality is welcome, especially if the commenter is honest about their emotions. Name-calling and posts that add nothing to the conversation other than schadenfreude, mockery, and interpersonal carping will be deleted on sight, as will any comment that contains racist, sexist, homophobic or any other oppressive language. I am the grand arbiter of what constitutes these items, because it is my blog. Accusations of censorship will be cheerfully deleted. These are the internets, my friends, and if you feel your voice is being unheard here in these limited pages, then I heartily encourage you to start a blog of your own.
This Caveat Tango is brought to you by the letter “Q,” for “query,” and “quest,” being the methodology I try to employ when wading in deep and eel-infested waters. Here there be monsters. So let’s bear in mind that we are only questing beasts, asking questions, and making queries.
